Peregrine Falcon Close Up - Commission No. 2 Watercolor Work in Progress - Update 3

I added more layers to the background and started defining some of the body, spent more time on the eye and face. The eye is almost done, still quite a ways to go with the beak yet. Hope everyone has a great night! Thanks for looking

Peregrine Falcon Close Up - Commission No. 2 Watercolor Work in Progress - Update 2

I added more layers on the background, starting to get some good darks, I also started mapping in some of the darker feathers and worked quite a bit on the eye, I can feel him starting to come alive!

Perched Peregrine Falcon - Commission No. 1 Watercolor Work in Progress - Update 2

More layers added on background to build up the dark areas, still lots more to be done. I started putting in some of the shadows, added another layer of yellow and started mapping in where the dark feathers will be.

Peregrine Falcon Close Up - Commission No. 2 Watercolor Work in Progress - Update 1

This is the second one, they are both 8x10. I have drawn it out and started the background in this one also. I really like both compositions, but this is my favorite I just feel the close crops are more interesting and a little more intimate (just my opinion). I will be posting updates to both of them, I am also working on another painting but will post that when the falcons are done (might be easier to keep track that way) so stay tuned!

Perched Peregrine Falcon - Commission No. 1 Watercolor Work in Progress - Update 1

This is number 1 of 2 commissioned paintings I am doing of Peregrine Falcons, the first one is perched and the second one is a close up of a head. I have drawn it out and started laying washes down on the background. I am excited to get the going as they are such a beautiful and mystical bird. I am so inspired by nature, it is such a joy to paint the wonders of our world.

WIP Peacock Painting Started

I started defining the background a bit with B.S. and some trans yellow. Then I worked on the main body of the bird with Cerulean Blue and Thalo Blue.

I started this a couple of days ago but have not had time to post it, life is crazy busy sometimes. I started dropping in random colors for the background, blues B.S reds etc.. this is the first of many layers that will be put down. Hoping to get some others started along with this one so I have something to paint while it is drying. Thanks for stopping in hope you all have a terrific day!

Dusty the Goat is Finished!

He is finally finished, I find animals take so long to slowly build up the layers to get the depth, but it is worth it in the end. I can't wait to start the next ones, more flowers and a peacock are coming up next. Thanks for visiting hope everyone has a creative day!

Not Done Yet - Update on my Goat (Dusty)

It is getting to the home stretch, I will remove the masking fluid and start refining the face might neutralize the background a bit, not sure yet I will have to reevaluate it once Dusty is finished. I am also in the process of finding more inspiration so I will have some new paintings to start on right away. Hopefully I will finish today or tomorrow. Thanks for stopping in have a great day!

Robin - Finished

Finished this today, still working on my goat. I find yellows do not translate well with the computer, the fine detail seems to get lost and the different yellows blended together on the beak (looks much better in real life) Hoping to finish the goat up quickly so I can move on to some new paintings i have in mind. Hope everyone has a great day!

Making Some Progress on My 3 Paintings

I finished the stems and started working on the petals. I am very happy with the background and stems, can't wait to finish this one up!
I darkened the background some and removed the masking on the outer edges, I will start to soften the edges next and then focus on the goat, I will probably finish his eye first before his face.

Darkened the background down and lightened some blades of grass to show he is sitting on the ground. I also worked a little on his chest dropping in some yellow and a hint of green. I will work on the back and body next leaving the eye and beak for last.

Working on 3 New Paintings

This is a called Peacock Orchid but is actually in the Gladiolus family (another beauty from Kingsbrae Gardens), I am going to work on the stems next leaving the petals and shadows for last.
I find it better to work on more than one painting at a time, then when one is drying I have something else to do, if not I get tired of waiting for paintings to dry and end up touching it when I shouldn't.

No my robin is not blue lol, this is the first layers, a few more still need to be done to get the right color.

Last but not least is my little goat, he is just too cute to resist. I took lots of pictures of these guys up at Kingsbrae Gardens (one of my favorite places). I think i have the background just about done, then I will remove the masking and start working more on the goat.

Corn Flower

I originally saw this flower in a garden when I was painting for Bloomin Artists in Hampton earlier this summer, then I saw it again at Kingsbrae Gardens in St. Andrews when I visited there this summer I was drawn to this flower right away, the texture and vibrant color, they stand about 4 feet high and are very dominant. I started with an under painting done in watercolor and then layered soft pastel.

WIP Clematis - Finally Finished!!

OK, I know this painting has taken a long time to finish, thanks for hanging in there. School is back in next week and I am back to my old routine of painting every morning, can't wait!
I finished this using FUB, Quin Magenta, trans yellow and a small amount of cad yellow. It has been a wonderful process painting this big and I will definitely be doing some more this size.
I added the shadows on the petals (this is what I drew me to this photo in the first place)using a mixture of quin magenta and F ultra blue and then dropping in some more Quin magenta while they were still wet, it took a few layers to get them to the right shade. I am just finishing a soft pastel of a corn flower and will post it as soon as I am done (it is only 11x14 so I will be done quicker lol) Hope everyone has a wonderful and creative day!
