Watercolor Painting Work in Progress WIP - Blue Jay Update 3

This is getting closer, but still a lot left to do. I will finish the tree and then start giving the Jay more form and finish up by defining his feathers more. Hope everyone had a happy and safe Halloween ! : )

A time before Flowers and Animals

I was going through some of my older paintings the other night and found this one, I forgot that i had been obsessed with fruits and vegetables before the flowers and animals. I think I am slowly working my way to people lol, i am itching to do a still life... soon..

Watercolor Painting Work in Progress WIP - Blue Jay Update 2

Moving right along with this guy, i am not sure if you have noticed but I am starting to produce well again, I am waking up again in the middle of the night wanting to paint which is good and bad lol. I have added some more to the background, worked on the tree some and I am starting to define the Blue Jay

Watercolor Painting Work in Progress WIP - Blue Jay Update 1

I added some darker colors to the background and started to define the tree and branch (masked off the small marks on tree trunk) placed his eye and started to add some color to the Jay.

Watercolor Painting Work in Progress WIP - Blue Jay

I started the foundation for the background with transparent yellow and then a glaze of sap + a little Cobalt. I am also working on a Gold finch and still working on some roses, I will post some of their progress later.

Latest Watercolor Painting - Camera Shy

Again this one is really out of the box for me, I have spent so much time painting macros and close ups, I am starting to enjoy putting together these paintings. You really have a lot more to think about as far as composition goes. I did this little goat ( from Kingsbrae Gardens of course) with a limited palette. This little guy would not come out of the barn to get his picture taken, in fact the only one that was not shy was Dusty the baby.

Latest Watercolor Painting - Windmill at Kingsbrae Gardens

This is my latest painting, it is of the Windmill at Kingsbrae Gardens. This is another one that is different from my usual, I find it is very beneficial to move outside of your comfort zone every once and awhile. Hope you all have a great night!

Latest Watercolor Painting - Serenity

This is a different one for me to paint, I really enjoyed it. This was a garden statue I found tucked away at Kingsbrae Gardens in St. Andrews, I love the way the light seemed to be falling directly on it.

Commission - Watercolor Painting of Stella the Pug - Finished!

Stella the Pug is all done and ready to go to her new home! I really enjoy doing animals, I have always been such an animal lover, especially dogs. I can remember when I was young I would drag any dog I could find home and beg to keep him lol, one time I brought a beagle home that turned out to belong to a neighbor from up the road, he offered to let us keep him but my mother was happy when we found the owner because the beagle was full grown and never house broken, so home he went.

Commission - Watercolor Painting of Stella the Pug Update 3

starting to refine the shape more and deepening the colors, still aways to go but she is coming along!

Commission - Watercolor Painting of Stella the Pug Update 2

I added more color in the dark areas, and am starting to develop the contours of this little cutie, hopefully I will be able to post more later today. I am in the process of working on some roses also and I am drawing out some more paintings to start, I find the planning and drawing the most time consuming and hardest part.

The Boys- Jack and Sandy

I normally always post paintings or paintings in progress, I thought while I was painting a dog I would introduce you to the boys. The larger black and white is Jack and the tan one is Sandy, they are both pure breed Cocker Spaniels (go figure lol) I am not sure how Jack ended up so big (we have to bolt everything down or he will eat it lol). Jack is 3 and Sandy is 10, we decided to get another dog when we found out that Sandy was almost completely blind, Jack is Sandy's seeing eye dog. They did not hit it off right away but now they are the best of friends, and they are a joy to have in our family! I will be posting an update on Stella the pug a little later, I hope everyone has a wonderful day! :)

Commission - Watercolor Painting of Stella the Pug Update 1

Starting to add some of the dark areas, long ways to go .. It is an 8x10 and was commissioned by someone to give as a Christmas gift.. I can't imagine a better gift to receive, but I am a dog freak (I have 2 Cocker Spaniels) and an artist so I am a little biased lol

New Commission Started - Watercolor Painting of Stella the Pug

This is the start of a commission I am doing of an adorable little Pug named Stella. I finished drawing her out and just started blocking in where the darks are going to be, I am very excited to be painting Stella - Pugs are one of my favorite dogs!
