I have worked some more on the background and I have started putting some of the initial washes on the lily to start getting the shape and form into place. This painting is 16x20.

This Day Lily is a beautiful light pink/peach color with a red and yellow center. I have drawn the lily out and put my first wash on the background.

This was the best picture I could get with the lighting, it is pretty close (at least on my monitor). I will post the first couple of steps for the Lily I am working on next - stay tuned!

Starting to define the foreground flowers and darkened the background a bit more in spots. I am actually done this one but it is evening here and I can't seem to get a good picture, I will set my lights and camera up later and try again if I get a chance. Hope everyone has a great night!

I just started to fill in and try to soften some of the distant flowers in the background and worked a little on the stems and centers of the foreground flowers.

I has masked the flowers off so I would not have to be careful when putting the background in. I have more done on this and will post an update later. I have also started another lily (surprise.. surprise lol)

More Pen and Ink with Watercolor

Pen and Ink with Watercolor

I have been doing some pen and Ink with watercolor, just as a break from my usual paintings. I find these very fun to do and I love to sketch (i don't do it as often as I like) These are all 5x7. I have some more I will post after these.

Latest Day Lily Watercolor Painting Finished!

I put a wash over the background to tone it down some. I put layers of perm rose on the petals to make them more vibrant. I removed the masking on the stamen and painted them earlier today. I am calling this done! I can't wait to get the next ones underway. Hope everyone has a fantastic night! Thanks

I worked some more on the petals. I am almost finished the stems. I will finish the background and petals before doing the stamens and then I will be done. I am hoping to post the finished painting tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great night!

Latest Day Lily Watercolor Painting that i am working on - Update 1

I have actually lifted some color out of the background, and added some more color to the petals. I still have a ways to go, I am hoping to finish this by tomorrow. I all ready have a couple others in the planning stages, going to do a bit bigger one next I think. This one is only 11x14.

Latest Day Lily Watercolor Painting that i am working on

This is the latest day lily that I am working on. I started this last night and worked on it some more this morning. I masked of the stamen and put the background in using the wet into wet technique. I still have some more dark to put into the background. I started the flower and stems, there is still a long ways to go.

Purple Iris - Watercolor Painting Finished!

I am finished the purple iris. I am almost finished the black goat and I am working on another lily (surprise.. surprise!) I always seem to come back to the day lily, there are so many different varieties and each one is just as beautiful as the next.
